Addison Burgess
Reverend, Chaplain, and retired Army Colonel Addison Burgess, Sr., is a native of Lake City, SC. He was ordained as an Itinerant Elder in the 7th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in 1991. Thereafter, he received a military commission from South Carolina State University ROTC program in 1992. Upon completing his Master of Divinity (MDiv) Degree in Pastoral Care/Counseling from the Interdenominational Theological Center/Turner Theological Seminary (ITC/TTS) in Atlanta, GA, in 1996, Addison was endorsed by the AME Church and entered active duty as an Army Chaplain in 1997. Over his storied Army career, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, was assigned to the Office of the Chief of Chaplains at the Pentagon and served as Installation Chaplain Project Officer at Fort Jackson to name a few. Since retiring from military service, Addison has shifted his focus to the veteran community where he serves as a Veterans Affairs Staff Chaplain.
